Manna Davis, Lavina Williams and Maybeile Amituana'l are the three ladies whose voices are blended together so perfectly at the heart of this excellent soul album. 'Spoken To' doesn't simply highlight singing talent but these three New Zealanders are accomplished songwriting and their urban sound is fresh, invigorating and well, I have to confess I'm hooked! Fresh and breezy grooves underpin a smooth vocal partner-snip on songs like "Freedom" and the poppy "Don't Break Away". Yet "D-Tribute" is a song for their friend David Wilson who committed suicide. "May We Always (Be Together)" is a gorgeous song with voice, piano and light percussion mixing together, and the girls sending delightful tingles down my spine with their singing. "Show Me Heaven" is more tasty gentle R&B vibes, and "Love Is" brings the album to a gentle acoustic conclusion. Overall, Ma-V-Elle give us a delicious feast of fine songs and fabulous singing. Love it! If you like something in the R&B ballpark but you're looking for something a little different, try this.
