Producer Glen Tabor has done a fine job with this debut album from South Carolina-based worship team Marathon Worship. The lead vocals, both male and female, are fresh, impressive and confident, the varied arrangements perfectly complement the songs and the melodies are appealing. These qualities make the album stand out in the crowded field of contemporary worship music. The opening track "Collide" with its insistent refrain "Spirit move, come and fall on your sons and on your daughters" is powerful as is "Holy Spirit" which might be described as the centrepiece of the album ("We are broken, in need of your loving arms"). "Wasteland" is a soft-rock ballad of vocation and hope and is my favourite track on the album. The tempo picks up with some driving drums and electric guitar with "Wild And Free", a reflection on God's love, which is pretty much the theme also of the more intimate "Not A Thing". A project which definitely improves on repeated playing.
