Chicago-based singer Mitty Collier is probably best remembered for her 1964 Chess hit "I Had A Talk With My Man" - a secularised version of the James Cleveland number "I Had A Talk With God Last Night" - and this 10-song release sees the singer cum pastor return to her gospel roots in style. Collier has a voice that contains something of the fervency of Sister Rosetta Tharpe and proceedings kick off in suitably high octane fashion with the funky "He'll Make It Happen" to set the scene for an album that advocates the benefits of a relationship with God with the aid of some top notch performances from both backing band and singer. Evidencing her live performance credentials, Collier continues in energetic gospel mode with the likes of "If You Understood My Past" before straying into blues territory with the James Cleveland number "No Cross, No Crown". Elsewhere, the veteran singer evokes Nina Simone in the soulful "The Rainbow" before further showcasing a supreme versatility by offering up an impressively big vocal performance on the slow gospel number "At Calvary". Redressing her earlier career choices, Collier includes a cover of Cleveland's "I Had A Talk With God Last Night" before rounding off this thrilling release with an exemplary reading of "Amazing Grace".

This is a truly blessed and anointed Woman. I met Pastor collier many years ago when I my self was on the road playing guitar with Archie Bell and the Drells (Tighten Up). I always loved here singing, but when I met this "lady" I was so impressed with how she carried herself. It was clear to anyone interacting with Mitty, that yes she was singin R&B, but there was no mistaking she carried herself like a true lady. I never got a chance to tell here that. I often share this with people that knew here music, I was not surprised when I read she was a great pastor. God Bless this great Woman...
