You can’t judge a CD by its cover. This has a powerful image of a cross of lightning, and the font style looks darkly gothic. What of the music? It defies categorisation. A mature folky voice (coy about his age, Holcross admits to being a granddad), some great acoustic guitar and it turns out that thanks to Korg recording equipment, this is a genuine one man band. Well, congratulations Mr Holcross, it all sounds pretty good to me. Reminds me a bit of The Waterboys in places, some great blues too.
