I was immediately put off this album by the no less than six cutesy poses of blue eyed white suited Mr. Shambrook barefoot in the sand. Still if Amy can do it...Peter has a voice which is a little reminiscent of Elvis Costello and copes well, if not stunningly, with this collection of self-penned songs. His lyrics are rarely clichéd and speak eloquently of faith. The gentle "On Main Street*, the gutsy "When Al Comes Down" and "Walk Away' were high ports. Rick Elias' production has given the songs a driving acoustic-rock sound and the arrangements are thoughtful if a little lack lustre. Unfortunately, however, I have to say the album is never more than average. Whether its Peter's not overly-distinctive voice or Ricks production which is mostly to blame I'm not sure (since I cant change one to see if it makes the other one better*). Another case of an imported album which is streets behind two dozen no budget, indie label British bands. Shame. But if you like predictable acoustic rock and Elvis Costello, get it
