This live recording was made at an event called Life Supper, held four times a year at Christ Church, Leamington Spar. Singer/songwriter Phil brings a number of his 'friends' along which include family members Michelle on drums and Nicki on violin. The result is a showcase for Phil's interesting songwriting style and versatility on instruments such as guitar, piano and keyboard. There are enjoyable moments here. I especially warmed to the different approach to themes such as Heaven, comparing it to a "South Facing Room" revealing that "Heaven is near", and "Stoney Acres" with its unique take on the parable of the sower. Despite the quantity of musicians (11 are listed here) and studio overdubs, the album does sound a little raw, even demo-like at times. There is plenty to enjoy and indeed the audience seemed to have a great time.
