This is one of those albums that has been available for quite some time on import but has only now been picked up by Word UK. The album caused a sensation when it first appeared on the market. There is no doubt that Rage Of Angels are musically superb and this, their debut, can clearly boast some hot musicianship. The lyrical content of the album is disappointing, the songs covering such heavily cliched subjects as "Rocking For The Rock" and "Reason To Rock" (yes the titles say it all!), leaving us with nothing new or challenging to think about. One of the problems I have with Rage Of Angels concerns an interview with the band that appeared in an American white metal fanzine. In the interview the band claimed to be leaving behind the Christian scene and breaking into secular territory but the band seem to be quite willing to compromise to the extent of including sexually explicit lyrics on the next album. This brings serious doubts to mind about the band's sincerity. The star rating that I have awarded refers to the musical quality of this album, the next Rage Of Angels album may not even be added to my collection.
