This is a double album which catalogues the 15 year career of Ray Boltz. Volume 1 is a selection from '80s albums and Volume 2, '90s. The tracks here contain many major US Christian radio hits though the OTT orchestrations probably won't connect with many British listeners. What you have here is a weighty, occasionally ponderous, complement of seriously meaningful songs. In a style that is frequently operatic, with Ray taking the role of various biblical characters. The content is always biblical, thoughtful and reflective. But the '80s tracks are very much of the period and the continuation of this style into the '90s material makes it sound dated. While the content is undoubtedly lyrically substantial, Ray remains an acquired taste.

10 years ago this same cd title was used for the first
"Very Best Of", now we are given a limited edition of the
first 15 years in a 2 cd set. 24 songs hilight this June
release, containing over 2 hours of classic Ray Boltz. The
above writer either hasn't read the information contained on
the cd pamphlet or doesn't know Ray's music that well. The
first cd contains some songs from the 1991 "Another Child To
Hold"
How befitting to begin with the most well known anthem that
catapulted Ray into ccm, "Thank You". CCM listeners know
how this song was used for the TBN broadcasting network.
Who can forget the powerful video for debut signature
song"Watch The Lamb" over 7 minutes of inspiration from
1986.
I have the video for " I Will Praise The Lord", just love
the song and video. One of the first songs besides
"Thank You" that reached me was "Feel The Nails".
Who has not been touched by the dramatic video of
"What If I Give All" from 1996. I just totally love "The
Anchor Holds from Allegiance cd.
"Seasons Change" is a top notch ccm classic, among my
favorite songs. TBN premiered the video "At The
Foot Of The Cross" in 1996, awesome lyrics.
CCM artist Cindy Morgan duets with Ray on "God Gave Me Back
Tommorrow" destined to be found in the halls of great ccm
duet classics.
"There Stood A Lamb" closes the set, a most memorable song.
I missed not hearing " I Will Tell The World" (liked the
video) & "Another Child To Hold". This is the cd to buy if
you have nothing by Ray. God bless, Don
