For those who though that bluegrass was performed by baggy-suited veterans, Red Roots will be a revelation. Three pretty young teenagers demonstrate here that their grasp of country gospel and old timey sounds are every bit as skilled as the oldsters. Natalie who plays the fiddle, Nika on bass electric guitar and Nicole on five string banjo blend beautifully. Apart from the old Judds country song "I Know Where I Am Going" which I always thought neatly fits into the gospel category, the other remaining nine tracks are new material and pretty good at that! I found many of the lyrics very thought provoking particularly "What If God Says No". Musically they fit into a modern Americana/bluegrass style and if they can continue to make music as good as on this debut CD they can go a long way.
