In the words of one of music's most enduring clichés, Jackie isn't putting on a concert here - she's having a church. This album was recorded live at the Church On The Rock in Kingston, Jamaica, two years ago - and considering the length of time it's been sitting in the can, it hardly sounds dated (then again, that could be down to all the overdubbing that was done afterwards). Jackie seems to enjoy talking more than she does singing; most of the time, the band and backing vocalists (who just happen to be Kirk Franklin's choir, The Family) are simply providing an aural backdrop for Jackie's to preach over. For those who like powerful preaching and mellow soul, this should be an ideal purchase, as it combines both.
