Through the years of reviewing for CR the transformation of the standard of what I hear from the grassroots still amazes me. From dodgy cassette tapes recorded on bedroom four-tracks with photocopied covers all the way to CDs with professional quality sound and glossy printed covers. Not that we should ever be over focused on the wrapping but the thing is that the improvement of the content seems to match. This CD is another good example of what can be achieved. The worship team at River of Life Church, Dumfries challenged themselves to get the worship music that they were doing "out there" into the wide world. One year later here it is and it does seem well worth the effort. All the songs were written from within the team - and yes, they are worship songs, focused on God and expressing their response to him. The style is pretty well in the modern rock worship style that you could hear elsewhere but the strength is in the genuine nature of the worship that the music contains.
