Ryan Brown could be perceived as being a little musically eclectic. Sometimes he's fronting his pop alternative band Wish and playing local clubs or you might find him leading worship in his church. Here, he has constructed an album which as the title suggests takes the listener lyrically through the life of Christ. Well crafted songs, gentle warm rootsy acoustic arrangements and passionate singing make this something special. Produced by former Alice Cooper and House Of Lords drummer Ken Mari, this is never less than totally captivating. "Emmanuel" acts as a stirring introduction setting the scene with the arrival of Christ in the world and "Nicodemus's Song" has a story like quality reminiscent of the best of Don Francisco. Ryan Brown also proves to be an exceptional musician whether playing solo guitar on the instrumental "Communion" or the bleak emotional piano on "At The Cross". "Mary's Song" is as good a song about the crucifixion as you're ever going to hear. Throughout the album. Brown's songwriting combines truth-drenched lyrics with a compelling catchiness. If you like Rich Mullins. Don Francisco or even the music of Keith Green, it'll be worth tracking this one down!
