Scott was born in Dover and has since worked his way north, as a student in London and then as a professional musician at St Edmundsbury then Ely and now Newcastle. His first solo recording was 'French Connections' and he continues the Gallic theme on this recital. The composers featured are Alexandre Guilmant, Camille Saint-SaĆ«ns, Charles Tournemire, Olivier Messiaen, and Louis Vierne. The only English notes are found in two of the pieces: Guilmant’s “March On A Theme Of Handel” and Vierne’s “Carillon de Westminster” with its echoes of the Westminster chimes. The two stars of the show are the organ and the organist. The history and technical specifications of the instrument are outlined in the informative booklet and all organ enthusiasts will want to find out more. For them this is an indispensable recording; for the rest of us it is an enjoyable recital extremely well played and certainly worth a listen.
