It is probably unfortunate that Set Free have released this album at this time since the British Set Free hip hop duo have already established themselves. For the record then, this is the American Set Free with a west coast funky sound underpinning their rhymes that is catchy and memorable. I actually prefer the funkier moments like "Gonna Make It" with its R&B vocalising and the slow burn soul of "It's Bout That Time". "Manos Arriba" infuses a trendy Latin feel and the straight ahead groove and message of "Where Would You Be" is enhanced by some wild rock guitar at the end. There are so many average hip hop albums around at the moment with the same cliched rhythms, rhymes and arrangements. It's cool when Set Free rise above that here and there on the album but too much of this is formulaic.
