This pretty much is what it says on the cover: carols such as "Away In A Manger", "O Come All Ye Faithful" and "Silent night" mingle with traditional songs including "Jingle Bells" and "What child Is This?" All are performed in a smooth jazz style, meaning lots of acoustic guitar and light electric solos, plenty of soprano saxophone, and warm deep female vocals. "The First Noel" is a highlight, with a simple acoustic guitar and piano arrangement. The grooves are laid back, the sounds relaxing, and the tunes surprisingly recognisable for jazz. Don't expect the quality or creativity of smooth greats such as Grover Washington Jnr or Pat Metheny, but if you like their style, there could certainly be a place for this release in your life each Yuletide.
