The original SOF albums were, if anybody remembers, imbued with musical naffness and now that the songbook has clearly outlasted those albums Kingsway are engaged in a massive recording project which may eventually see all the SOF songs on pristine CD. Unfortunately, the project is already beginning to wobble. The first two volumes were superlatively produced by Steve Thompson at ICC but now a cheaper studio and arrangements which sound like they were largely put together in somebody's bedroom computer make Vol 3 a significant drop in quality on its predecessors. There are some nice moments, John Pantry on "King Of Kings" and the hugely underrated Helen Jayne on "When I Look Into Your Holiness" but largely it's all rather limp and lifeless and a sad example of allowing budget constraints to ruin a potentially brilliant series.

In the secular world every effort is being made to preserve music, christians discart it as "old". Awsome!
