Leaving aside the pun in the album title (I'm assuming the point of it is that Steve wrote the songs!) what we have here are 15 tracks and an hour of playing time in a mainly acoustic guitar/piano style, although there are one or two poppier moments along the way. Bearing in mind the probable budget, it's not a bad effort, although the voices could've done with being a little brighter and a little further up in the mix. When I listened to the songs themselves, I found all sorts of echoes of yesteryear; the closer "What Is This Gift?" reminded me of the sort of folksy stuff I was trying to play at the end of the '60s, whilst "Heaven Is Pure Love" is atmospheric synth-driven pop, and "Let Your Spirit Flow" could be a stadium anthem. I think Steve and Bob should concentrate on the acoustic stuff, sharpen up the production, put a bit more work in on their singing, and they could have something.
