We Brits never really "got" Steve Green. Despite being a major CCM star in the '80s and '90s with a string of hit albums and Dove Awards, his particular musical approach with his rich, near operatic tenor encased in lush orchestrations never really took off in the UK though in America he, together with Sandi Patty, were the big stars of "inspirational radio". This 15-song compilation is a reasonable retrospective and no one can argue about the quality of the songs, such as the Steve Curtis Chapman-penned "We Trust In The Name Of The Lord Our God", "Unto Me" penned by Twila Paris and "Teach Me To Love", a duet with black inspirational singer Larnelle Harris. Many of the orchestrations still seem floridly OTT to me but having said that, if you enjoy classy balladry with lyrics which lift up the living God you may want to investigate this compilation.
