Jangly guitar riffs, swirling Hammond organ, memorable tunes in the manner of Elvis Costello, Van Morrison and The Band -and all without digging through the classic vinyl! The Good Sons are a 5-piece who have emerged out of Greenbelt veterans The Stormkeepers and this four track collection of well crafted and well performed songs displays a band that is in control and cruising (in the best sense). Lead singer/songwriter Michael Weston King has clearly mastered the art of writing quality pop songs and cites as major influences the aforementioned Costello, John Hiatt, Jimmy Webb and The Jayhawks. Lyrically Michael's songs are not totally upfront in the Christian sense - the only song here in which he makes an obvious statement of faith is "Tower Of Strength" - but if you like songs that are intelligent, witty and well played then this is recommended.
