If you know anything about the British country music scene you'll know that Tony was for decades its foremost figure, touring tirelessly and keeping the flag flying for the genre in far off UK. This compilation originally came out in 2007 and brings together gospel songs that the veteran recorded during his 50 plus years of work. They consist of originals like the Stewart Ross song "Man In The Sky" (in the sleevenote Tony recalls how he was asked to play the jaunty, joyful number at a funeral) and Geoff Ashford's "Throw Down A Line" as well as a batch of much loved oldies such as The Browns' "The Three Bells" and Kris Kristofferson's "Why Me Lord?" Tony's approach is, of course, that of an old style country crooner, a bit like George Hamilton IV (with whom Tony has toured) while the production is a bit hit-and-miss. But much of the Brit country veteran's warmth and sincerity still shines through.
