A various artist project from a new US label, the title track is the gem. Wanda Vaughn (who used to sing with the one-time Stax hitmakers The Emotions) offers a slinky ballad about the incarnation with lashings of soul power so that you soon forgive the rather pointless spoken intro by none other than Stevie Wonder. Nothing else on the project is quite as good as this gem though there is some delicious classical guitar from Les Law on "What Child Is This", pop rocker Patrick Paegel sings well on an excellent song "The Great I Am" let down by the fact that there's only an acoustic guitar accompaniment and "I Am Baby Jesus" by Shelley James is a clever song with a good pop arrangement. With so much variety from track to track one wonders whether style hopping will limit sales but I can say that this is one of the best Yuletide releases of the year.
