I thought Windy Lyre an evocative name for a band or album. Unfortunately, this name is claimed by a vocalist! Well, she must have had some seriously hippy parents. 'Windy' sings with the pure breathy tone beloved of indie/acoustic music at the moment. Imagine lush singing in tune or a less nasal All About Eve. She even reminds me of Liz Hasel in her more comprehendible moments. Windy uses the same-stacked vocal technique; harmonies low enough in the mix to be almost inaudible but loud enough to make the voice angelic. The songs, co-written with Michael Knott, are strong. Interestingly given the very now sound, they pull no lyrical punches, speaking openly and realistically about their faith. The production is intriguing. Michael uses only guitar, bass and drums yet creates a sound which reminds me more of the Cocteaus than a folk band very much like the new Heidi Berry. The spacious arrangements I find very attractive. So, an excellent album.

The first thing about this CD that anyone will notice is how relaxing it is to hear any of its songs. The feeling I get from listening to this album is a kind of soft, dreamy, and flowing sensation. Enya is the closest artist I can think of to the sound, but Windy Lyre is much more sedate. This is definitely a CD for you if you are in the mood to be relaxed, or possibly to chill if you might be in a really bad mood. Also, it is a gospel CD. The way the lyrics are presented are like love poems to praise the Father God.
