This is one of two collections that come from two Bruderhoff communities in North America.  This tape focuses on Cuba, whilst the other, "Take My Hand", deals with the issue of capital punishment.  This collection is reminiscent of folk protest songs of the '60s (Pete Seeger, Woody Guthrie, etc.).  They are rooted in the conviction that prayer and action go together in situations where we are working for peace and justice.  (Pray as if everything depends on God and work as if everything depends on us.)  The performance of these songs is very rough and ready - which works both to its advantage and its disadvantage.  There is a raw enthusiasm about the recording which is refreshing, but at the same time I wanted something that was more polished.  If you are very interested in the Cuban situation, then you might find this to be a worthwhile recording to add to your collection, but I can't see it having an appeal to a wider public - partly because of the sub-standard quality of the performance and the recording.  Some of the songs are excellent - "Ain't Gonna Let Nobody", "Don't Let Your Faith" stood out for me, but I wouldn't buy this on the strength of a few good songs.
