Quite a musical journey on this collection from a Texas-based five-piece. You might say there are three mini-albums in here. The starting point is the thoroughly modern rock of "Thank You Lord" and "Be Still". Then there is the blues laden good ol' rock'n'roll of, for example, "Glory Glory". The third is the acoustic mini-album of gentle ballads and near perfect country sounding harmonies such as those of the title track. The glue that holds it all together is the simple fact that the band really can play and that Suzanne Olman who sings the bulk of the songs has the ability to sing equally well with the required variety of styles that fits it all together perfectly. One other that holds it together is a clarity and consistency of purpose with the whole varied collection. By that I mean that whilst playing in a cool band would be nice enough in itself it's so much more when it's speaking of more eternal truths. In this case the lyrics have a touching honesty and directness that makes it clear that these are real people with a real message they want to communicate.

I had to go to the wordsinthedirt.com web site to hear the
song samples but great songs. I love the driving beat and
guitars. Then I did a search on the group name and started
finding several internet stations playing Words In The Dirt.
I was able to find ever song on the CD playing at some
Live365 or Loud City station so there must be others loving
the music. Keep up the great work.
