I remember a woman saying to me a number of years ago that, "Every time somebody views my image I feel I'm violated again."

We need to be giving young children the tools they need and portraying a positive message of what relationships should be like and can be like.

The church has a really important part to play in it too.

Heather: In what way, in educating?

Nola: In educating, yes. Perhaps for understandable reasons, there is still within the church the feeling that this doesn't affect us, this is what happens out there in the world, but we know that there are many people within our churches for whom this is just as real a problem as it is for those outside. We did a survey of some church leaders a while ago and 95 per cent of those who responded said this is an issue for people in their congregations.

In the security and the loving Christian atmosphere of a church, working with children and young people and with adults as well of course, we need to be addressing and talking about the possible dangers and challenges that are posed by pornography and the damage it does to individuals, families, marriages and indeed the ministry of the Church as a whole. CR
