Emily Graves spoke with Andy Flannagan about the Show Up campaign

Continued from page 2

Emily: One last thing, we are going to talk about the 'Show Up' campaign and how on Thursday, 19th March you went along to Parliament Square to read your book as part of the' Show Up' campaign. So tell us about the day and the campaign itself?

Andy: The campaign is calling on folks all across the country to do just exactly what we have been talking about, to show up and not just at the ballot box, but to join political parties and get involved. We thought a good way of calling people to show up would be to read the book, but not have a typical book launch in a book shop or in a snazzy little room somewhere. We thought we are calling people to show up so let's call them to show up in Parliament Square; symbolically for people to come together and listen to me reading from the book and then we had a time of prayer for the nation. People came from all over the country and stood praying for our nation, right in front of Big Ben in Parliament Square. We were praying for the country, the election, praying in the aftermath of the election, which is very important this time round and all the negotiations that will probably have to happen. It was a really encouraging time. There is also a 'Show Up' video that I'd really encourage you to go online and have a look at. It's been shown in so many churches across the country as a really useful intro to this whole issue. If you go on U-Tube and just search for hash tag 'Show-Up' you will find it, it's a great little video that the churches have been finding very useful.

Emily: Is there a website where we can find out more?

Andy: Yes, www.christiansinpolitics.org.uk/showup and all the information is there. CR
