If you were arrested for being a Christian would there be enough evidence to convict you?

The group was heading to the college. They had an appointment to meet with the students. The emergency phone call came early that morning. "All our friends are sick and hospitalized," the voice reported. Deciphering the code - that meant the 20 students undergoing Bible training had been arrested and jailed. The students had their Bibles and books, CD's, VCD's, clothes, blankets and mobile phones confiscated. Hearing this, they stopped their vehicle and reverted to plan B - being tourists. They headed to the nearest McDonald's restaurant in a city in northwest China.

Looking around, they could have been sitting in a McDonald's restaurant in any city in Europe. They are the same hamburgers all around the world. Probably the cheapest Big Mac meal in the world is found in China. Children romped around the McDonald's playground as they do in many different countries.

Chongqing, a city of 30 to 32 million, has the highest population of any city in the world. The growth of tall buildings, Western businesses (such as McDonald's), and great mansions gives the impression of a modern, progressive country. Yet while economic changes have occurred, religious persecution continues.

Next time you go to McDonalds, or any other high street fast food chain, & enjoy the satisfying if slightly unhealthy delicacies on offer, take a moment to remember those around the world, just like you, but who face fears of arrest & discrimination just for their faith. Ask yourself whether you would stand up for your faith in the face of persecution.

Fortunately, all of the students in the situation described above were released after 24 hours except Brother Kong - he bore the full responsibility. He may face a one-to-three year's labor camp sentence because this is his second arrest.

Remember Brother Kong in your prayers, that he will be sustained & guided by God through these difficult times & thank Him for the courage and strength Brother Kong showed.
