Heather Bellamy caught up with Pete Greig about his new book and what prayer looks like in his life.

This book will defibrillate your heart. It'll wake you up in your faith and help you to go deeper in prayer, even if you wouldn't call yourself a Christian right now. It will help you to find the very purpose for which you were born.

It's just a bunch of stories, but I'm praying that God will use it to change lives the way He did with it's prequel, which was Red Moon Rising. So do get hold of Dirty Glory and my prayer for you is that it will do all of that in your life.

Heather: How has writing the book impacted you personally?

Pete: I found writing the stories really difficult, but really wonderful. It was difficult because I am very honest about many of my own struggles and areas of pain and, of course, being vulnerable is painful. But I also found it so wonderful, because when you stop and you remember all that God has done, it's just so encouraging. If you think about it, that's how the Bible got written. They just took the time to sit down and record what God had done.

The other thing is that the book's got quite a lot of amazing stories, but it's also got quite a lot of funny ones. One of the nice bits of feedback I'm getting is people saying, "I knew it would probably make me cry and it did, but the book has also made me laugh. It's really funny." So it was a joy to write, but occasionally it was quite painful. CR
