"Courage is contagious. When a brave man takes a stand, the spines of others are often stiffened." Billy Graham

Evangelist Billy Graham spoke to packed stadiums throughout the world, with many responding to his altar calls. He helped to advance the gospel of Christ and encouraged many Christian leaders to work for the gospel.

But what is it like to live a life fully poured out as an offering to Him? What is it like to ignite others in faith and inspire them to live serving sacrificially, yet rejoicing in spirit?

The Apostle Paul was a Roman prisoner for witnessing to Christ and he was supported by a church in Philippi. He writes a very insightful letter, gently encouraging them to grow more in love and to discern what is best, in order to lead a faithful and blameless life in Christ.

Paul's ambition is Christ preached at any cost.

The Church should conduct itself in a worthy manner of the gospel of Christ, standing firm in one spirit. Despite opposition he wants them to be as one man for the gospel. He wants the Philippi church to be united with Christ and the fellowship of the Spirit, to become like-minded and to serve others in humility. They should have a Christ-like attitude, showing full obedience to the word of life. There is one thing to do: 'forget what lies behind and reach forward to what lies ahead. Press on toward the goal to win the (heavenly) prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus'.

Think on excellent or praiseworthy things and add to it the practice of prayer. We have nothing to be anxious about, but we can thank God in everything.

Rejoice in the Lord always! CR
