We talk with three men of God on faith & age

Continued from page 1

Heather: As someone who has reached his 79th year, have you had to wrestle any issues in your faith relating to age?

Peter: Heather I could write a book on this subject, but to say it as short as possible we are called to warfare against the god of this world (satan) and he makes war against the saints, especially those that the Spirit of God has called to obey his word to go into all the world and tell the good news. Yes I have had to wrestle with the lack of energy; everything takes longer so my faith has to be coupled with patience with myself and sometimes other people. I rely on Gods word to encourage me and make my walk with him steadfast. As Gods word says, 'I can do all thing through Christ who strengthens me'. Another thing that keeps me mobile and excited is that Gods word says that 'eye has not seen nor ear has heard the things that he has prepared for those that love him'.

Heather: How do you think God sees age and what are your hopes for the future?

Peter: I guess that I've already answered most of this question. I rest on his word and the dreams and prophecies that have been imparted to me down though the years. I trust in his unfailing mercy and love. My testimony is this, kept by the power of God and I believe I am just about ready to start in a new move of his spirit, it will be new so we must stop raking over the old ashes and get down on our knees and call out for the fire.

Heather: You're someone I've always admired; watching you from a distance a few years ago, knowing you'd been on ministry trips to India; were seeing fruit from your books and were setting up a website to reach young people and all this at an age when most people would have long been in 'retirement'!! What's God been doing now you're in your 90's?

Victor: In the last 2 or 3 years a small team of youth have been interested enough to distribute a booklet I've written called 'How To Be Safe And Sure'. It's just been re-printed and uses up to date science.

Heather: If there was one piece of wisdom you would like to pass on to a younger generation, what would that be?

Victor: To mark the texts and pages of their Bible and constantly refer to them.

Heather: You have had a very fruitful life; many older people look back over their lives with regret and sorrow, what encouragement could you give those people in terms of Gods perspective on life?

Victor: To dream and believe and act on Romans 8:28 and to be faithful to the truth of Gods word, the Bible, regardless of the critics.

'And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.' Romans 8:28

Remember, the Lord does a tremendous amount through ordinary Christian testimony in daily life and their word of testimony to fellow workers and neighbours. The Lord Jesus has marvellous ways of turning things around for the faithful.
