'Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Come to me. Get away with me and you'll recover your life. I'll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with me and work with me-watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won't lay anything heavy or ill fitting on you. Keep company with me and you'll learn to live freely and lightly'. Matthew 11:28

Have you ever considered that living without God in control of your life comes with its own set of inherent rules and burdens?

Hebrews 11:25 says that sin is pleasurable only for a time and Galatians 6:7 what a person plants, he will harvest. The person who plants selfishness, ignoring the needs of others-ignoring God harvests a crop of weeds. All he'll have to show for his life is weeds! But the one who plants in response to God, letting God's Spirit do the growth work in him, harvests a crop of real and eternal life. If we continue in our life of sin constantly missing the mark we will only reap the same harvest.

You were once dead in sin, but Christ came to awaken you, to take you into real rest, living freely & lightly. Sometimes we see only the rules, which are attached to walking with Jesus, all the can't do's rather than the life, which Christ has awakened in you.

John 10:10 says, 'I came so they can have real and eternal life, more and better life than they ever dreamed of'.

Jesus described his yoke as being easy and light. Does that sound like the faith journey you are living? If it doesn't, then maybe you have become burned out on religion and need to come away and learn what it means to live in the unforced rhythms of grace.

Its only as we submit every aspect of our life to Christ and live in His perfect grace that we realise He doesn't lay anything too heavy or ill fitting on us. CR
