No thanks to a sleeve which manages to hide the identity of most of the performers, I finally sussed that this is a compilation of various tracks released over several years on albums - some give artist credits, some not - in Maranatha's Colours series. Colours are instrumental albums, the material ranging from classical guitar to jazz (Werner Hucks and Dieter Falk). At first I thought, "If I play this at a dinner party, the guests would fall asleep face down in the entree!" But although the classical guitar pieces are very dull, there are a few pleasant tracks to be found, Tom Howard's "The Road Less Travelled" being the first I came across. "Seascapes" is interesting and "Open Our Eyes" quite lovely. Out of the 12 tracks on the album, I could lose six, the others not exactly conducive to scintillating conversation. All in all, I found it very unobtrusive, but I must confess I personally found Werner Hucks' "Rainy Day" awful! Not bad as instrumental albums go, at least it won't overwhelm your guests.
