Having enthused over his vocal on the song "Enough" when he guested on Satellite & Sirens' 'Tanks' album I looked forward to hearing this five-song EP from the Texas-based singer now signed to Dream Records. I wasn't disappointed though I was a little surprised as Joel has moved into electro pop territory. There is plenty of production sheen by Jonathan Thulin with "One In A Million" featuring a feet-propelling groove from club music maestro Matthew Parker and "Every Alley Of My Heart" having an infectious sub-bass riff. As demonstrated on his Satellites & Sirens appearance, Joel has a great pop voice complete with some delicious ascents into falsetto. I'd expected pop ballads and midtempo songs or alternatively a congregational worship approach as on his two independent albums. But there's no getting away from it, Joel sounds good on dance pop as well.
