Ironic that as the US record industry dumps 'urban' as a name for contemporary African American music and reverts back to 'R&B' after decade-long flirtations with 'soul' and 'urban', hip ol' Christians should put out a compilation with the Urban Gospel moniker. No matter - as the prophet said, it's the music that counts and pretty hot it is too. Commissioned, Angelo And Veronica, Tavani, Dawkins And Dawkins, Billy And Sarah Gaines and Vernessa Mitchell. The compilers occasionally falter. Not every cut is the best of the acts on offer and Hezekiah Walker is more trad gospel than R&B (sorry, urban). But no matter, with 20 tracks there's plenty of tasty music and it's great to get something from the delicious Lisa Scott out in the UK at last.
