An excellent compilation that crept all but unnoticed in the UK, itself a long overdue follow-up to the 'Ladies Of Gospel' album which came out in the States in 1987. Light didn't have enough solo men even with archives dredging to put together a 12 song album so they've given the lead singers of their top notch groups of yesteryear the Winans and Commissioned star billing. Light were of course pioneers of soul-gospel so there's Crouch and Dixon, not to mention the more recent Howard Smith (a superb vocalist) and Beau Williams. There's rootsier stuff on offer as well with Donnie Harper and the New Jersey Mass Choir and Douglas Miller. A good introduction to male gospel singers of the 70s and 80s.
