Anyone who saw Steve at Greenbelt '94 will not doubt his creative genius, and it follows that should there ever be a tribute album then some of the best bands in Christendom must reproduce his songs. So after quickly passing by the monotonous version of "Am I In Sync" by Circle Of Dust, we are introduced to Hot Pink Turtle's unpredictable "A Principled Man", the sombre tones of Starflyer 59 ("Sin For A Season") and the mellow sounds of Sixpence None The Richer ("Bouquet"). "Harder To Believe Than Not To", performed by Fleming And John, is reminiscent of Daisy Chainsaw with its crunchy bass and squeaky vocals. After Argyle Park's industrial version of "Drive, He Said" comes Deliverance's heavy interpretation of "On The Fritz" and the album closes with The Wayside ("To Forgive"), Bride ("We Don't Need No Color Code") and the Sanctified Glory Mountain Revival Family ("Guilty By Association"). However, I've left the best till last, Dig Hay Zoose's amazing medley of "Steeplechase" and the wonderful "I Want To Be A Clone" - and I suspect there's even some Mortal in there!
