Musicians For Missions International, founded and led by Karen Lafferty, is the musical arm of Youth With A Mission, Amsterdam. As a sampler this well illustrates the polished and varied talents of the artists who have benefited from association with this valuable ministry. Much of the fare is of the American CCM variety, interesting to note the inclusion of seasoned, top-class people like Bob Fitts, Scott Wesley Brown and Karen herself. Most tracks of the 15 are compiled from the artists' own albums, and some of the newer names are a real "find". Neil White's track "Perestroika" reveals a confident convincing singer/songwriter with real style. I hadn't heard the infamous No Longer Music before, on "Soft Distorted Music" you can see what the fuss is about, this is a tight, spare, raw sound - can't their album be released here? Cathy Carter and Stan Petingill have already had favourable reviews in Cross Rhythms; must draw attention to the warm, rich vocal skills of Angela Diprima, lovely voice. Bob Fitts "Take My Healing To The Nations" is a fitting finale, these ministries are certainly well on the way to doing just that.
