This is actually a concert, part of a five day outreach to Jews in St Petersburg, Russia in May '93. The 108 minute programme is all music, apart from a quite brief gospel address/explanation from Messianic Evangelist Jonathan Bernis, which sits nicely part way through the programme. Nagila, a 3-man band from the States, open the show with their bouncy, praise-oriented material, setting the evening off to a brisk start. Next up was Lisa Leonard who apparently sings in some New York secular supergroup. Any ideas? Answers on a postcard please. Only one song, but real class. Victor Klimenko sings in Hebrew and Russian but his expressiveness makes it clear what he's getting at so it's enjoyable. Then of course our own Helen Shapiro turns in a totally professional set of her recent recordings and the dynamic song and dance troop Kol Simcha bring the evening to a breathless conclusion. The video's technical quality is superb, the artists are radiant - not surprising 3,000 people received Jesus during the festival.
