The album cover describes this as "a musical for youth groups" and that is exactly what it is. It contains a mixture of songs and spoken script. All but one of the songs are from the Word album 'Songs From The Loft' and are written by Amy Grant, Gary Chapman, Wes King, Beverly Darnall and John Darnall. I expected the music to sound a lot like 'Songs From The Loft' and was pleasantly surprised to find quite a contrast between the two albums. The "singing youth from Belmont Church, Nashville" make a great job of the vocals, although they lack the sparkle of the original 'Songs From The Loft' artists. The dramatic material was written by Beverly Damall and Bonnie Keene and is in short fragments between the songs. Again, the album cover description is correct; it is "all about loving God and helping each other." 'Salt And Light' could easily be used for a youth group production, as there are also companion materials available.
