Just run your eyes over the album's cast list: Nutshell, Might Flyers, Fish Co, Water Into Wine Band, Parchment... this truly is a fascinating retrospective of all those pioneering 'Christian beat groups' and turtle-necked singer/songwriters who in the 70s were the pioneering spirits in establishing Christian music (or, more specifically the white variety) in the UK. There are sixteen tracks here and whether you groove to ol' Garth Hewitt as he croaks out "Paint My Picture (Warts And All)" or catch up on the folk blues acoustics of Parchment's revival of Washington Phillips' 20s blues song "Denomination Blues", you'll find music that has stood the test of time remarkably well. It's a shame then that the packaging (no sleeve notes, no information) is so utterly lacking. Britain's Christian music history deserves better than that, Word
