From the vaults of the legendary jazz label Blue Note comes this 12-track compilation of mainly jazz instrumentals. There isn't a deep lyrical content here, but the compositions here portray the 'feel' of the gospel, church preachers and Christianity. Close your eyes and just imagine yourself in a black church in New York in the 1960s. With titles such as "The Congregation", "The Preacher Pentecostal Feeling" and "A Baptist Beat" by giants of the jazz world such as Grant Green, Lou Donaldson and Donald Byrd, with a supporting cast of Art Blakey, George Benson and Herbie Hancock, you know the jazz will be of top quality. For devotees of the Blue Note sound, this is an essential compilation.
