Expect nothing trendy here, this is good old-fashioned choir singing of the male voice variety - indeed of the Welsh male voice variety. Here you get the Treorchy, Morriston Orpheus and Pendynis Male Choirs. Part of Word UK's 25th anniversary season this will go down particularly well with the over-50s. Three marvellous choirs singing church standards such as "Onward Christian Soldiers", "Praise My Soul The King Of Heaven" and of course "Guide Me O Thou Great Jehovah". The best tracks are "Love Divine", "The Old Rugged Cross" and an excellent version of modern song "Give Thanks". There's only one blip on the whole collection, and that comes in the shape of "You'll Never Walk Alone" - quite an abysmal rendition and best left to sports crowds rather than choirs if this attempt is anything to go by. Otherwise an enjoyable album.
