The Scottish Episcopal church choirs are rarely given this kind of forum, and they have done themselves proud here with a collection of psalms, anthems and hymns recorded in Dundee Cathedral. The choirs do not have the polish of many of their southern counterparts, no doubt because they were brought together for this recording, and the balance between the voices does tend to be rather loose. Dynamics (soft/loud, you must be kidding...) are nicely controlled, however, and I would recommend "Psalm 45" here as a particularly nice piece of work both by the choirs and the composer, R Cooke.
