it doesnt matter if shes a christian or not...... as christians we can interpret the words of her songs to mean something extra for us... it doesnt matter what the world thinks bcuz we're from god not the world and we shud b worried about God's opinion on our life and nothing else.

I love Amy and Evanescence and I'm a Christian. Admittedly it makes me more comfortable knowing an artist loves God. I just can't get into the whole -- it doesn't matter what an artist (or actor or public figure) believes. The Bible tells us that just believing in God means little (even the devils and demons believe) but when you surrender yourself (and your talent and your fame and wealth) to Him the change evolves into transition. And that is something that can be seen. Its not judgement. It just means we need to pray for anyone who's not quite there yet.

I know she's a believer. She has stated she was a christian. But she has backslid way far from her walk with God. She covered Korn's Thoughtless which is a very ugly song i my opinion (I don't like the lyrics, but the music is ok) and she uses a ton of profanity. I know many "christians" who use alot of bad language, and it's fine, but God says in the Bible not to use it. Again, who are we to say whether or not someone is Christian/ that's between her and the Lord. I just hope she sees her rebellion and tries to be better in her walk with God. After all He has blessed her with the talent she has. Evanescence will still be my all time favorite band!

For those of you who are evaluating "fruit," you should evaluate one of her earlier songs "October." Realize that she indisputably is talking about a need and surrender to a savior. It seems impossible for anyone other than a "born again believer" to write such a song. It is possible for her to be "in the world," but not "of the world" and to be an effective witness according to 1 Corinthians 9:19-22. At the same time, I am concerned with her use of profanity. It's not for us to judge, but rather we should seek to grow in humble wisdom in an effort to do all for God's glory according to I Corinthians 10:31 in "trying to learn what is pleasing to the Lord." (Ephesians 5:10)

I can't believe she said that because if she was a Christian then she wouldn't have said it that way. i am extremely proud of being a child of God and I will tell anyone and i won't be ashamed of it. all my friends know i'm a Christian and they don't mess with me about it because they know how passionate i am about it i really love Evanescence but i need to hear from HER mouth that she is or is not a Christian

I don't think by "christian thing" she meant Christianity. I think she was talking about the Christian Genre. I'm a Christian, but being caught in the Christian music industry is a circular trap. Flyleaf has all Christian members, but they don't want to be associated with that Christian music genre; same with many other "christian bands" that have excaped the Genre. I'm sure there's an explanation.

The Bible says you will know them by their fruit-
Matt 6:17
Then in Matthew 10:33 - we see that if we deny Christ now, he will also deny us in front of the Father.
Out of the overflow of the heart, the mouth speaks - Luke 6:45
I would say she isn't a Christian. Many people claim to be a Christian and have never truely accepted Christ into their heart. when we sincerely invite Jesus into our life, teh Holy Spirit begins to change us from the inside out and we feel God's presence with us. The result of this is to share with others the work that God has done in us. I pray that she will come into to a new life in Christ - 2 Corinthians 5:17

Before we go fruit inspecting (Love being the fruit of the Spirit; 1 Cor. 1-7), has Amy Lee personally denied Christ Himself? I heard her, in an interview, say that she was a Christian. I know that she doesn't want the band to be labeled a "Christian band" because she wants the door open for all people to come and be a part of her lyrics. This is a Spiritually dead world falling for the lie of Satan , and she's bold enough to jump right into the middle with a hope in some of her lyrics pointing to the One who gives Life. I wouldn't be so quick to judge her motifs and write her off. Christ certainly hasn't. There may be a bigger goal of Love at hand here. Rather, pray for her to not be knocked off her original course to be enticed into the world's ways, but to focus on Christ's leading in her heart and to do it. It's easy for someone as God-gifted as she to be targeted to be snuffed by the relentless accuser, Satan. Just pray that her faith be solid and just as relentless in Christ her Savior and Lord. Pray that Christ shows her beyond any doubts His will for her life and that her mind stay in the Word and protected (Ephesians 6:11-13).
