Greenbelt appeals for donations to keep festival going

AN EMERGENCY appeal has gone out from Greenbelt Festival to rescue what is Britain's longest running Christian arts festival. The event - which is due to have its 25th anniversary this August - has made an urgent appeal for donations. Said a spokesperson, "Following Greenbelt "97 the festival has left us in a critical financial position. However, board members, staff and friends have not been sitting on their hands. Between them, supporters, volunteers and Greenbelt Angels have contributed a magnificent £70,000 in three months, which has kept Greenbelt afloat since August. This is almost half of what we need. Now we need to find the other half."
