Christian/Gospel music sees large sales increase and is 5th popular genre

IN THE latest American sales figures, Christian music/gospel has now become the record industry's fifth largest selling genre. In the past four years Christian/gospel has seen an overall sales increase of 75%. According to Sound Scan, sales of the music rose from 44.6 million units in 1998 to 49.8 million in 1999. Last year's 11.5% Christian music sales growth compared with the 6.3% growth experienced by the whole of the music industry. CR
