Alliance Music boss, Ian Hamilton leaves label to join Compassion UK

LEADING international music industry executive Ian Hamilton is leaving Christian record label Alliance Music as managing director to take up the role of chief executive for Compassion UK the Christian child discipleship agency. Hamilton's departure marks an illustrious career spanning 30 years in the music industry and his new appointment is expected to shift the Compassion UK's impressive first year of growth into another gear.
For almost 50 years Compassion has been working amongst the world's poorest children giving them hope for the future by providing education, health care and helping develop self-confidence and social skills. Today worldwide nearly 80 per cent of children never hear or have the opportunity to respond to the Gospel. Compassion ensures that each sponsored child has access to regular Bible teaching through a local church partner. Commenting on his appointment, Hamilton says, "For 30 years I have had the privilege of working with some of the most talented musicians in the world. Seeing Compassion UK's work first hand has convinced me that I need to invest my time in helping children who are struggling to survive to realise their talent and potential. I'm looking forward to promoting the Christ-centred work of Compassion and challenging Christians throughout the UK not to tolerate the injustice of poverty." Taking over in the role of managing director of Alliance Music is long time Alliance executive Dave Withers. CR
