British gospel's Oasis Awards launched

A NEW ATTEMPT is being made to establish annual gospel music awards in Britain. The Oasis Awards will take place at the Hilton Metropole Hotel in London on 27th October. Roney Henderson, of gospel company MusicStar Promotions, spearheads the initiative and Britain's black newspaper The Voice and urban radio station Choice FM 96.9 have agreed to be media sponsors of the event. GMTV will broadcast excerpts from the show. Said Roney Henderson, "The Oasis International Gospel Music Awards will give recognition to those artists in Britain and other parts of the world who are playing a major role in bringing gospel music to a wider audience." CR
