Staple Singers, the Kelly Brothers, Highway QCs on Vee-Jay compilation

BRITAIN's re-issue specialist Charly Records have issued a comprehensive box set charting the lengthy history of Chicago's Vee-Jay Records. 'Chicago Hit Factory: The Vee-Jay Story 1953-1966' is a 10-CD box set featuring a huge array of artists including John Lee Hooker, Jimmy Reed, Gene Chandler, Betty Everett, the Four Seasons and the Beatles. One 26-song CD subtitled 'Uncloudy Day' contains tracks from the label's extensive gospel catalogue including such artists as the Staple Singers, the Kelly Brothers, Highway QCs, Argo Gospel Singers, Harmonizing Four, Original Five Blind Boys Of Alabama and the Swan Silvertones. CR
