One of America's finest, the team fronted by pro­ducer/vocalist Gene Eugene, have never delivered a dud and 'Dig' (their fourth album) is surely their most mature and inven­tive record­ing to date. The acidic duel-guitar riffs; the rock solid, and occasionaIIy rather funky rhythm section; the songs that explore the bleaker corner of human experience - grab the lis-terer's attention. My current favourite is the dark, stark "Hopeless Again" and the gritty, teeth-rattling opener "Deep". Let's hope one day this exceptional team of thinking man's rockers get to the UK. In the mean­time, enjoy.
